POS Openhouse Server (P.O.S.)
This is a project that will be started January, 2007. The goal will be to allow lights, air conditioning, heater, locks, and other components in a house to be monitored and controlled.
Radio Controlled Surveillance Aircraft
This project was started as a senior design project at UMR for a group of Computer Engineers, Electrical Engineers, and Aerospace Engineers. At the end of the senior design year the aircraft flew well and was controlled from a laptop computer. A video feed was also sent back from the aircraft and recorded. Unfortunately, all components of this project had to be left at UMR. A similiar project, however, has been started to duplicate many aspects of the original project and to also add features to the design. It is hoped that eventually an autonomouse surveillance aircraft will be finished and tested.
Light Controller
This is a simple light controller that was created as a semester project at UMR. The controller uses a Atmel 1051 microcontroller to control 4 DC powered lights or LEDs. The controller has a 1200 baud serial connection and controllers can be chained together to control more than 4 lights. The circuit schematics and 1051 code are available for download on this site.
Smarthouse Controller Simulation
This project was created as a project for an "Introduction to Operating Systems" class at UMR. The group members (Heath C. Ice, Jayson Vucovich, and Jason Trent) added a little to the original project specification and created a server that, with slight modifications, can control a number of devices in a given house. This project, combined with teh light controller project shown on this page, is the precursor to the "POS Openhouse Server" project shown on this page.
